Small Grant Fund awards from the Torbay Lottery

Nine local good causes have been successful in obtaining a small grant award from the Torbay Lottery Small Grants Fund for 2025/2026.  

This year, the fund raised £12,000 through ticket sales from the Torbay Lottery. This money will be used to help organisations provide valued support and services to communities.

The winning organisations to benefit are:

- 7th Paignton Girl Guiding (£1,700)

-  Babbacombe Corinthian Sailing Club (£1,600)

-  Palace Avenue Methodist Church (£1,500)

-  Sound Communities Community Interest Company (CIC) (£1,800)

-  Torbay Pride (£1,500)

-  Torbay Stroke (£1,700)

-  Torbay Youth Sailing Trust (£640)

-  Torbay and South Devon NHS Charity (£1,410)

-  Willows Community Group and Carvery Group (£150)

Councillor Jackie Thomas, Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism, and Events, and Corporate Services said:

“The Torbay Lottery has been running for nearly 9 years and continues to support so many local good causes and community groups through the Small Grants Fund as well as through the weekly lottery draws.  We really value the work that our local groups undertake supporting our children, young and older people and encourage them to be more active and manage their health and wellbeing.  This is another way that we are able to help out our local good causes, many of whom have been impacted by the ongoing increases to cost of living and reduction in available funding streams.  To date we have given out over £113,100 in funding from the Small Grants Fund.”

“We are always looking for new local groups to join the lottery and benefit from monthly income generated through ticket sales as well as through the Small Grants Fund which is opened at the start of each year for local groups to bid for up to £2,000 towards the cost of specific items. The Torbay Lottery is a Torbay Council initiative, empowering local groups to generate vital funds in a fun and effective way, while enabling players to support the causes they care about the most.  

In total, 160 causes are currently signed up, and the Torbay Lottery has raised £299,500 since it was established.  

There are currently 521 players signed up to it and 985 tickets in play.
