Next Torbay Lottery draw on Sat 21 July at 8PM
The draw is in 5 days 2 hours 45 minutes
VisualEyes Torbay is a new Charity that has grown out of Brixham Blind Club which achieved Charity status in July 2017. We provide a much loved and valued service for the Sight Impaired community of Torbay and We provide emotional support and Signposting for Visual Impaired persons. We work to bring people back into their community once more. We provide facilities for Social events, Meetings, Outings, and encourage people to meet and make friendships with similar minded people. People who have a Visual impairement need to feel part of the community once again, and have every right to be able to take part in a wide selection of day to day events. We are all volunteers who provide subsidised transport that enables persons to escape from their houses and take part in our social events, as well as play Lawn Bowls, Shooting and Sailing to name a few. Age range is wide, as are the disabilities we encounter. Stroke Survivors and MS sufferers also have Sight issues and we are affiliated to the Macular Society and represent them in Torbay. We work closely with the Torbay Sensory Team, and the RNIB who have now taken over the Action for Blind Operation fully.
We need your help so we can continue to offer and expand our services over Torbay! Once only Brixham, our 100+ membership now covers Paignton and Torquay and with subsidised Transport door to door for as little as £5 return, you can reach our new Meeting Room at the Paignton Library on the 1st Wednesday morning in the month from 10.30am-12.30pm, as well as attend the original Brixham Meeting on the 1st Monday of the month from 2pm-4pm.
In partnership with the RNIB 'Spoken Word' operation we also operate a 'Spoken Word Book Club' helped by Torbay Libraries and The Friends of Paignton Library. This operates every 2nd Tuesday in the month.
These three operations then feed into a Social outing on the 3rd Week of the month to National Trust properties, meals out, the Theatre, Films, events and the list goes on.
We are all volunteers, often Sight Loss effected, who work with dedicated Sighted people who work alongside us to be our eyes!
It costs money to maintain a subsidised Transport operation, but with Funding through Grants, gifts, Legacies and Generosity we are expanding. There is no membership fee and you are joining a family of friends who you can share laughs with, share humour and get back into the community.
This new Lottery will enable you to support our needs so we thankyou for joining the Lottery and wish you good luck in the draw!
